The Readings by SunChariot Newsletter
February 2014 Edition
Volume 6, Edition 2

Welcome back to the Readings by SunChariot newsletter!

Well, it's February, or at least it soon will be. :-)

And February's always a nice kind of month for me. It's a month of warmth, anticipation, sharing, comforting...and all kinds of good things.

Where I live, and maybe where you live too, February is the coldest month of the year. And it gets COLD here. But, then it's all about how you look at things, as I believe most things in life are. I like to remind myself that it's also the shortest month in the year. And that once February starts winter is on it's way to winding down, Just a few weeks and then it's March and things start to warm up (and start to melt) more and more.

In February, I like to find myself something fascinating to read and learn. I love learning new things, always have. And it make the time pass faster and more enjoyably. This year I am reading a few books on shamanism to learn more about what that is all about. And working on another little book by the same author of my beloved Simply Serene book, William Wittmann. This book is called "The Magic Formula: How to magically attract the life you most want."  I am just getting started on that one, so I can't tell you yet how it works for me. But I have learnt a lot from some of his insights already.

And that is what February is to me, a month of being cosy lying in bed with the enjoyment of a good book. Some good novels and some educational  books as well. And knowing that winter is almost done and the joy of anticipating all the good things to soon come in the spring. I just adore springtime and now it is soon here.

AND of course, not to forget Valentine's Day.  And I do wish you a joyful one this year. It's just a holiday I have lots of warm happy memories about.  Starting as a young child with those books of valentines that we punched out and signed and handed out to friends in school to make them feel appreciated and to let them know we care. They were such cute colourful things too. The words on them may have been a bit sappy (the ones with pictures of cute dogs saying "Doggone it I like you!" Or the ones with bees saying "Bee mine!"), but the caring behind them was real and in the end that was what mattered.. :-)

That to me is what Valentine's Day is. Not at all just about romantic relationships to me. To me, it's about love in general and a time to tell and show those we love how we feel. A time to show and remind the people we care about that we are there for them, and that we want to make them happy. To show the people we love, no matter who, how much they mean to us. .

And that too adds a lot of joy and warmth to a coldish month. And makes you happy to be just when and where you are in your life

And with that in mind I really should say before moving on that you, dear reader of this newsletter, mean a lot to me. You're my reason for being here and putting this out into the world and you mean a lot to me.  Thank you for all you have given me over the years and for sharing my life with me. It is all very appreciated.

Again, I wish you all the best in this month and during this holiday.

Take good care of yourself and love yourself well too,

Love to you,

Babs

Quote of the Month

"If you were able to look back at your most brilliant successes, stunning comebacks, amazing catches, and smokin' ideas, and you were to find that virtually all of them seemed to materialize out of thin air, when you least expected them, and that they had exceeded even your greatest expectations at the time, how excited would you be about the new year and whatever else I've got up my sleeve?

Hubba, hubba -

February 2014 Contest

I decided the best way to go for this month was to run another contest for an angel reading. It just made sense to me since angels are all about love and loving energy, and since February is a month about love. So let's say the prize for this month\s contest will be another 3 card angel reading. :-)

More Tarot superstitions

I've written about this topic before, and I am sure I will again.  Mostly because the topic amuses me. LOL

There are so many Tarot myths and superstitions that totally confuse so many new readers. Many of them are quite funny once you understand the premise that THERE ARE no rules in Tarot. There is no set way that you HAVE to do anything for it to work. And before and above all that, we are all different inside and Tarot works with what and who you are inside. No one else can tell you the best way. Each reader has to find that out for themselves.

Given all that, if I see a book or other learning source saying that this is the "right" way to do things and that you have to do something this or that way to succeed, I start to mistrust that source. Tarot is not a science, but an art. As readers we get to see the answers inside  in our own ways and paint the image for the querent in our own terms. 10 artists could look at the same tree and paint it. And each would do so differently. Yet none would be a wrong way to do it, they are just the way each naturally expresses their true selves. Tarot is like that.

That being said,  here is another list of Tarot myths and superstitions, just because I find them fun and funny. :-)

  1. that you must only have one deck as a reader and never get a second. Or your skills will become diluted (This was the first one I heard as a reader. I heard it before I had yet started, but I had already ordered two decks online. When the second came, I then gave it away....sigh...While I am sure that it is easiest to start with just one to learn on, there is no limit to how many you can have or own and it does not dilute anything)
  2. that your decks will get angry or upset if you don't use them enough. Or that they will get jealous if you use other decks more. (my belief in that is that the cards are not capable of thoughts or feelings. But the reader is. If you feel worried this could happen, those feelings of worry can likely affect the reading. But the come from the reader, not the cards)
  3. I have to add this one in again, as I found it so funny when I heard it: that you can't read well if you cross your legs (or arms)....not sure what happens if you read with your eyes crossed--probably a headache. LOL
  4. that you can or should only read with a deck that was given to you as a gift. (definitely not true. I have 116 decks now that all work for me, and only 2 were gifts)
  5. a deck must be covered in black silk when not in use (or any kind of specific covering, there IS no such thing as "must" in Tarot
  6. That you cannot read on certain days or times of the month
  7. that you can't read while wearing shoes (love that one!)
  8. that neither the reader or the querent should be wearing metal during a reading
  9. that you need to cleanse decks with safe, or leaving them out in the moonlight or with crystals...to remove negative energy. I have never cleansed a deck yet and have never seen any negative energy at all.
  10. that the cards can actually cause something to happen. (not at all true)
  11. that you need to be "psychic" to be a good Tarot reader/that all Tarot readers are "psychic"
  12. that you should or shouldn't let others touch your decks
  13. that you can only read for someone when they are in the room with you (or in the same city or country)
  14. that readers must always charge for their readings and conversely that readers must never charge for their readings (Now those can't BOTH be true!) :-)
  15.  that there are "negative' cards that you could hope don't come up....(Tarot is a system to help people, and to make them feel better. Any card that comes up in a reading does so for those purposes. And no there are no "bad" cards).
  16. that Tarot is voodoo or anything negative at all. (Tarot is just a tool,  nothing more. It is not inherently any one thing in and of itself. And it can be an amazing source of wisdom, connection,  and enlightenment.

etc,,,, there are probably thousands of these myths and superstitions out there, but I will just have to end this here instead of trying to list them all. LOL

Coming next month: Misunderstanding Tarot answers

Asking about Life

Since this is the February edition, I pulled out my copy of The Heart Tarot for you this month, by Maria Distefano.  Of course, it's a good Tarot, one that I love and that can be used any time of year. But I do particularly like to use The Heart Tarot around this time of year and for questions about love.

On that note, I asked for you this month: "What are the most  important things we can learn from the experience of love in our lives?"

And here is what The Heart Tarot had to say about that:

Card 1:The Wheel

This card is a card from the Major Arcana. The Majors talk about important life lessons that our lives are working to teach us, in this case through the experience of love in our lives.

I have to say I really like this answer from this card here. The Wheel is basically about an unexpected change. The kind of thing that you are not even thinking of yet, that is not yet even remotely on your radar, and then suddenly it just shows up in your life.

It's that touch of the unexpected, those times when you were planning on one thing and something completely different comes out of the blue and changes all that you had planned. Something that is actually in your best interest, but that you couldn't have even begun to imagine before it showed up in your life.

In essence, this card is saying that there is something important that we can lean about life and about how it works by thinking about how both the people and things that we love actually do come into our lives. Although, we are born with a good number of the family members that we love, many many other people and things that we grow to love show up in our lives at various different points in our lives.

This card says there is a lot to be learnt by thinking on how and why the exact people and things we grow to love show up in our lives and why they come exactly when they do. As you can see, there are two beings in the card image. The one dressed in black represents us here. He has his eyes closed and a tall big hat.

This says that we may have lots of thoughts about the kind of person we would like to love before we meet that person, but we don't know for sure who that person actually is. We are still in the dark about that. Our eyes are still closed to who the real person is in actuality. This can be about anything that you could grow to love, not only a person. It could be a new job that you will grove to love as well, or anything that you could love.

But in the background of the image you also see another bring, representing your life (or the universe, or Spirit, or however you choose to view it) waving its hands in the air and working its magic and bringing that which you will then grow to love into your life. Finding in the real world what will fit what you believe you need, and making it reality by bringing that into your life in a real way.

So yes, this card says there are some important life lessons we can learn by thinking about how and why this happens just as it does. How and even why life finds us just that we need to love and brings it into our lives.

Card 2: King of Swords

This is a card from the suit of Swords, which is about both our thoughts and the way that we think. Kings are about inner control, self-control, self-mastery, will power, and all those kinds of things.
So in essence, The King of Swords is basically about being in control of the way you are thinking about and viewing things in your life.

As you can see in the image, the king's sword has two hearts on it and is resting comfortably on his knees/lap.  This says that feeling love in our lives is the act of focusing on two hearts instead of just one, on two beings whose hearts and feelings are equally important.

And that focus, puts to rest certain trains of thought and ways of thinking that we might otherwise have chosen. The 3 points to the King's crown says that love leads those thoughts strengthen us inside.

This card says that we lean to master our thoughts through love in two ways. The very act of feeling pure love changes our thoughts to stronger more positive ones. At its best, love leads to well... choosing love-based thoughts over fear-based ones. Choosing positive ones over negative ones. Choosing trust over suspicion.

And also that love strengthens us and our thoughts,. And also when someone we love truly needs us, a child perhaps, . our thoughts align and we can find an inner strength we never knew we had.

Card 3: 2 of Pentacles (reversed)

This is an interesting card here. it's a card from the suit of Pentacles, which is about goals and the work needed to achieve the goals we set.

And as a reversed 2 it can be about both accepting what we can't change in life graciously and about seeing things from a different viewpoint.

And I can see why this is one of those lessons we learn from love.  Of course, no two individuals can ever think exactly alike. Which is a good think in essence, as things would get boring if they did. :-)

But when people love each other and need to set and work on some goals together, at times there are naturally going to be some disagreements on which goals each wants to accomplish and/or on how to work on the goals together.

And this card is saying that we can learn a lot of important life lessons from this aspect of relationships with loved ones. While it's natural to disagree sometimes, this card is saying that the lesson is in how you both deal with it when it comes up.

And here are two people in the image.  Both have their hands over their hearts and their eyes closed. It's about remembering that the most important thing is what is in your heart, and closing your eyes to other issues (making them secondary). The coins behind them say that it's about keeping the focus on what will "profit" the relationship and help it grow.  And yes on mutual respect.

And yes the basic meaning of the card is about being truly willing to open your mind to really seeing things in a new way, from the other person's viewpoint. And to being willing to accept what can't be changed. The yellow background here says that in the end its about thinking what will most likely lead to maintaining the happiness and warmth between you and working towards that. .

And that it's not about winning and losing. When one person wins., the other loses. And if the goal is on the relationship itself then if one loses or remains hurt then both lose. Sometimes it's about remembering that the relationship matters more than the outcome of any given goal means both have to compromise and each only achieves part of their goal. And that that is fine was long as the warmth and sharing grows between you

Card 4: flipped 9 of Swords (reversed)

This was a flipped card, a card that "flipped" our of the card during shuffling. A flipped card tends to have a complex answer, one that you might see on a deeper level if you stop to think about its message

This is the 9 of Swords reversed..  Swords again are about our thoughts and our way of thinking. And a reversed 9 is a very positive thing. Reversed 9's are about. warmth, joy, feeling good inside, healing and many other good and positive things.:-)

The message is about the times that love can be healing, make you feel better when you feel sad, bring you warmth and joy on a sad day. And naturally about your capacity to do that for your loved ones.

This card says that when a loved one feels a bit shattered inside we can help them put the pieces together again and help them feel whole again. We can help them see the big picture when the are only focusing on one piece of the puzzle. We can help them stand straight and tall again when their life brings them to their knees. To show them truth, to bring them healing and joy. To show them beauty in life and in their life. To be there to share and care. And help build and solidify things.

We can be there to build joy, warmth, and beauty into the lives of our loved ones. And they, of course, can be there to do the same for us. And, well, I can't imagine what we could do with our lives that could be more worthwhile than that. And all involved learn such valuable life lessons in the sharing of all this. And as we help our loved ones we learn certain skills. And as these skills grow we can learn to apply them to ourselves as well. Just a win/win situation.
February 2014 Friendship Reading

This month I used my new love for you here, my Tarot of the Hidden Realm. I just adore this deck, it's been amazing for me so far. The deck was created by Julia Jeffery and was given to me by a good friend. :-)

I thought that this month I would ask for you what you need to know to make this month of February beautifully memorable.

And in answer to that question, the Tarot of the Hidden Realms said:

Card 1: Ace of Wands (reversed)

This is a Wands card, about what you would like to create this month. If you want a beautifully memorable month, think of what you can do to create that and how to go about doing so.

This is also a reversed Ace, this is all about fairness, justice, and really about things working out well and in the best way for all concerned. Naturally to create something beautifully memorable you would need to incorporate these elements. Otherwise it might be memorable in another way. :-)

So this is a card asking you to stop and think if there is something you have been looking forward to doing for a while, thinking fondly of? Something that you could do alone or with a friend of loved one, that would bring you a sense of pleasure and make things warm and joyous and as they were meant to be.  If so why not make it a reality for  you this month,. It can be a good time for some quality me time, some beautiful little surprises for loved ones, and/or a time of compromises and letting go of old issues.

Think of what you would like to have in your life and/or share with another that would feel beautiful. And/or  what you would like to add to the life of another that you think would create something beautiful there. Something that would feel memorable to you. Something you can really get behind and look forward to creating. And then see how you can set those wheels in motion to make it happen.

The message of this card is that if you want a month that is beautifully memorable you can certainly have it. And that you have the power to create that within you. And that if you have that power, why not put it to some good use? :-)

Card 2: 6 of Pentacles (reversed)

This card is a card from the suit of Pentacles, which for me is about our goals and the work we need to put in to achieve our goals.

It is also a reversed 6. A reversed 6 for me is about sudden change. It's about the kind of change that happens very quickly, almost in the blink of an eye, but that tends to be permanent. We are talking about a very good and positive change here, since the question is about how to have a month of February that is memorable in a beautiful way.

And as you see, this image is a lot about joyfully working together well with someone, teamwork, cooperation, compromise, and well... whatever leads to harmony in relationships.

This card is asking you to think if there is one thing that you could just suddenly do in one of the relationships in your life, that if you did it it could create something memorably beautiful for all concerned this month.

f there is just one thing you could do that would help increase your closeness and sharing and working together as one, what would it be?  It might be an apology, it might be opening up more, it might be pulling down some walls, or whatever form it might take for you. But if you can think of one, why not make it a goal to just suddenly up and do that this month and create something more beautifully memorable together..

Card 3: 5 of Pentacles (reversed)

This is another card from the suit of Pentacles, about what goals to set if you want to make this month beautifully memorable. It's a reversed 5. And reversed 5's are about feeling tempted by something that may not actually be in your very best interest. And that brings in a little bit of introspection here.

The first part of the message asks you to stop and think if there is something in your life that you are doing to yourself that is not in your best interest. Something that if you did stop doing it, it would make your life more beautifully memorable this month. Maybe things like cheating on your diet, repeatedly going to bed too late and being exhausted at work, not making enough "me" time to keep things in balance of just the way you talk to yourself. This card says that if you can see an area in your life, where you are not treating yourself as well as you should, why not make it a goal this month to let that go more and more each day?

To have a beautifully memorable month, it helps to be good to ourselves too.:-)  Try being particularly nurturing and patient with yourself this month. Talk to yourself as you would to someone you love dearly.. Try not to expect perfection and accept yourself as a human being with some baggage that you're working through in the best way you can, just like every other human being. Be patient and truly caring with yourself this month. Be understanding with yourself. Give yourself and inner hug and pat on the back. And yes be  your own best friend. If you do this, this card says that this in itself should help you have a more beautifully memorable month.

Card 4: flipped Queen of Swords

This last card was a flipped card, card that just flipped out of the deck during shuffling. Flipped card indicate messages that can be a bit complex. And say that if you stop and think about their message a bit. you may likely then see something in it that you may not have noticed at first.

This last card is a Swords card, about both your thoughts and about the way that you personally think. It's a Queen. And Queen's for me about working together, cooperation, sharing, compromise.....all that goes into working together with others in harmonious ways.

So, this card is asking you to think about what your personal thoughts are on the best way to work together with others, Just to stop and think about why you see those as the best way. And of course to realize that others also have their own ideas on this and to accept that. And that we all have the right to our thoughts and beliefs.

Also, this card is about sharing your thoughts with others. It asks you to think about how open you are when it comes to sharing your thoughts with others. Are you are fairly open person who easily shares their innermost thoughts with others?  Or someone who  takes a long time to trust someone enough o share them, or someone who almost never does?

Do you find some thoughts easier to express than others?  Or find it harder to talk to certain specific people in your life? What do you think that is? Do you think you have walls up around certain people, or around everyone in certain areas? Do you think that is ultimately making your life better or worse?

All these kinds of questions are coming up from this card. But in the end the question of this reading remains what you can do this month to make It a beautifully memorable one for you. And this card say that to help do you can just lay your real thoughts out on the table and see where that leads. Communicate as openly as you can, but of course you can choose your wording of things so that things are phrased in caring ways, if you want to create beauty.
